TECNOLOGIA ASSISTIVA E INCLUSÃO DIGITAL: AVALIAÇÃO DE SISTEMAS INFORMATIZADOS PARA DEFICIENTES VISUAIS

Resumo

Este trabalho relata a atividade de acesso e de uso das tecnologias de informação e de comunicação (TICs) por pessoas com deficiência visual. Uma pesquisa de campo permitiu a observação das barreiras e dificuldades enfrentadas e superadas pelo deficiente visual com o uso das TICs. Além disso, descreveu-se a evolução do uso tecnológico na educação desde o aparecimento da escrita Braille aos modernos sistemas informatizados dirigidos a esse público mediante o uso de ambiente de aprendizagem mediado por computador (AAMC). Desse modo, pretendeu-se não só mostrar como, com a educação e o uso das TICs, é possível promover a inclusão digital e social de pessoas com limitação visual, mas também avaliar o grau de satisfação de usuários de sistemas informatizados utilizados por deficientes visuais. Para tanto, realizou-se, em uma instituição de apoio pedagógico especializado em Botucatu-SP, um estudo de caso a partir de entrevistas com um instrutor e doze alunos deficientes visuais que utilizam sistemas informatizados tais como Dosvox, Jaws e Virtual Vision, além da observação das aulas realizadas na instituição. Também se pretendeu divulgar os principais sistemas de acessibilidade de deficientes visuais aos ambientes digitais utilizados atualmente, suas características e seu modo de funcionamento, com a finalidade de pesquisar possíveis limitações apresentadas pelos softwares específicos, tanto como dificuldades enfrentadas pelos seus usuários ao fazerem uso desses recursos. Com os resultados obtidos, foi possível fazer uma comparação entre o perfil social dos alunos da instituição pesquisada, o grau de acessibilidade e satisfação dos softwares em utilização. Portanto, com o estudo, ainda foi possível observar que as tecnologias vêm passando por aprimoramento para atender a todos os públicos.

ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY AND DIGITAL INCLUSION: EVALUATION OF COMPUTERIZED SYSTEMS FOR VISUALLY IMPAIRED ONES

ABSTRACT

 This paper reports the activity of access and use of information technology and communication (ICT), which have as their subject people with visual impairments. The research allowed the observation of barriers and difficulties faced and overcome by the visually impaired in ICT use. Described the evolution of technology use in education from Braille to modern computer systems aimed at this audience through the use of learning environment mediated by computer (AAMC). Thus, it is intended not only to show how, through education and the use of ICTs, it is possible to promote the social and digital inclusion of people with visual impairment, but also assess the degree of satisfaction of computerized systems used by the visually impaired. Therefore, we performed a case study in an institution with twelve disabled and an instructor using such systems as DOSVOX, Jaws and Virtual Vision, using interviews with the instructor and students, and the opportunity to observe classes informatics research institution. Therefore, the present work, we intended to disseminate the main systems of accessibility for the visually impaired to digital environments currently used, their characteristics and mode of operation, in order to investigate possible limitations presented by specific software, as well as difficulties faced by their users to make use of these resources. With the results obtained, it was possible to make a comparison between the social profile of the institution's students researched and degree of accessibility and satisfaction of software in use. Therefore, the study conducted, it was observed that the technologies are undergoing enhancements to cater to all audiences.
