Carpooling como uma alternativa para a melhoria do trânsito: Aceitabilidade e características dos possíveis usuários.

Resumo

O trânsito é um dos principais problemas da era moderna. No entanto, dificilmente as pessoas deixariam o conforto do automóvel particular por alternativas coletivas. O carpooling ou carona solidária é uma alternativa sustentável para melhoria do trânsito, pois pode contribuir para a redução do número de veículos circulando nas vias públicas e, consequentemente, com o meio ambiente. O objetivo deste trabalho é avaliar a aceitação do carpooling entre os alunos de uma faculdade da cidade de Botucatu-SP, bem como identificar as características associadas ao interesse em participar de um programa de carona solidária. Para isso, um estudo observacional por meio de um levantamento amostral foi realizado entre os alunos de uma instituição pública de ensino superior, utilizando um questionário estruturado para coleta dos dados, sendo a amostra de alunos obtida através de um processo aleatório. Após a coleta dos dados, os mesmos foram analisados por meio de técnicas de estatística descritiva e pelo teste de Goodman para estudar a associação entre as variáveis. Verificou-se que apenas 5,5% dos alunos entrevistados não teriam interesse em dar carona a algum colega ou funcionário da instituição e que o gênero, faixa etária, período em que estuda e a propriedade de um veículo não estão associados ao interesse em participar de um programa de carona solidária.

CARPOOLING AS AN ALTERNATIVE TO IMPROVING TRANSIT ACCEPTABILITY AND CHARACTERISTICS OF POTENTIAL USERS

ABSTRACT

 The world is undergoing major changes due to technological innovations, which make life easier for people, however, has caused great impacts in relation to urban mobility and the environment. Traffic is one of the main problems of the modern era, however, difficult people leave the comfort of the car by collective alternatives. The carpooling or car sharing is an alternative for sustainable traffic improvement, since it can help to reduce the number of vehicles circulating on the public highway and hence to the environment. The aim of this study is to evaluate the acceptance of carpooling among students of a college in the city of Botucatu, and to identify characteristics associated with interest in participating in a program of carpooling. For this, an observational study using a sample survey was conducted among the students of a public institution of higher learning, using a structured questionnaire to collect data, and the sample of students obtained through a random process. After collecting the data, they were analyzed using descriptive statistics and the Goodman test to study the association between variables. It was found that only 5.5% of respondents did not have an interest in giving a ride to a colleague or employee of the institution and that gender, age, period studying and ownership of a vehicle are not associated with interest in participating in a carpooling program.
